Start your tour with the very famous and historical Dubai Creek, the area where Sheikh Maktoum Bin Butti settled the kingdom in 1833 with around 800 members of his tribe known as BaniYas. Dubai creek was a natural harbor, later established as a centre for the fishing, sea trade and tourist attractions. Dubai Creek, also known as Old Dubai, is the hub of the city’s trade, which has divided the city into two main sections, namely Deira and Bur Dubai. Historically, Dubai creek also served as a port for dhows and was primarily the source of pearl industry in Dubai. The development of Jabel Ali Port has minimized the importance of Dubai Creek although Port Saeed still exists along the creek to provide the trading facilities in the region and in the subcontinent. The other attractions in Dubai Creek are the Dhow Cruise that offers fabulous sightseeing facilities around the Dubai Creek area and the water taxis used as a means of transportation to connect Bur Dubai and Deira.
Throughout the tour, your cicerone will point out the most popular and fascinating site, Dubai Museum. This is located in the Al Fahidi Fort and is the only existing oldest building in Dubai. The Dubai Museum was built on 1787 AD and opened for public and visitors in 1971 AD. The Dubai Museum presents all the traditions, lifestyle; local antiquities and artifacts used in ancient Dubai. These have reflected numerous dioramas showing the daily life and trade in the city before the discovery of oil. Once you enter the gallery, you will be amazed with the presentation of ancient shops filled with craftsmen, vendors, buyers, a carpenter, an iron smith, a textile vendor and other lifestyles reflected with realistic sounds and life-size videos. In the other side of the Museum, you will be exposed to the largest diorama reflecting the huge scene of the building of a dhow, scenes of marine life and seafaring equipment. The most attention-grabbing part of the museum is the presentation of dioramas with the sounds, visual effects and electronic guides. This is definitely an unforgettable and memorable experience of life time.
